1. How heavy are your mosaics?
They are much lighter weight than they look. I use a hollow wooden panel grouted with a latex stucco these materials keep the mosaic as lightweight as possible. It is mainly the tile, stone and glass that makes up the weight. For example a 24" x 24" mosaic weighs around 25lbs and 24" x 36" mosaic around 35lbs.
2. How do they mount?
The mosaics have a built-in hanging strip which has a mitered edge (45degree). A provided reciprocally mitered strip mounts on the wall level. Then the mosaic just drops into place. Finish nails can be applied across the top edge of the mosaic to prevent it from lifting off of the cleat. The weight of the mosaic keeps it stable on the cleat.
3. Can the client add their input into the design of a mosaic?
Yes of course. I am able to create drawings on the computer to help visualize the design composition or even the mosaic translation of a projected mosaic. If a client has particular design ideas they can easily be incorporated into the drawing. Once a drawing is approved fabrication can begin.
4. What is your payment process?
For purchases from inventory payment in full is required. I can furnish you with a Paypal receipt upon request. For commissioned works, generally a 50% deposit is required. The balance is due upon completion. Crating and shipping is paid for by the client. I can provide the client with a third party art handler who can provide both crating and shipping services. Estimates can be provided upon request. My shipper, MSS (http://www.mss1.com), is very fair for their crating costs and they find the most cost effective and save methods of shipping available. The client of course can provide their own shipper.
