Jonathan's Portrait of Elton John 2023  (31" x 31" x 2.5") was designed to be site specific for his client's space needs. Jonathan's process involves creating a "mosaic" drawing for the client to clearly convey his approach to the portraiture. It is in the drawing phase that Jonathan designs the precise tile shapes so that when the are cut and laid next to one another they create grout lines that act line drawing lines, establishing the volume of form and depth perspective.
