Jonathan's floral mosaics re-purpose broken hand-blown glass shards sourced from local artists. The artist's sustainable approach creates ethereal and other-worldly floral designs. Working with glass presents interesting challenges due to the material's brittle nature. Glass can break in unexpected ways during the shaping process, producing beautiful unique shapes. These hand-blown glass shards are convex and concave which creates a bas-relief quality across the mosaic's surface. The curved pieces of glass gently roll into one another, depicting the delicate tension of flower petals.
