The Portrait of Pennswood Village is Jonathan's largest mosaic to date — it is five feet tall by thirty feet wide. The scale of the mosaic presented unique challenges because it was too large to be created and installed as one contiguous panel. Jonathan came up with a creative solution. He carefully designed the mosaic so that it could be subdivided into ten panels. Each panel is two and a half feet by six feet and required the installation of hundreds of tiles that overlap with neighboring panels. It took six days to fully install in Pennswood Village's lobby.
The mosaic portrays the lush and sprawling campus of this senior living community and evokes feelings of calmness and serenity.
